Inventory Magazine – Issue 5
The fifth issue of Inventory Magazine includes features and stories from around the world. After visiting Los Angeles, Ravarino, Seattle, London, New York and Normandy, IM continue to focus on some of our favourite people and brands. Among other things, the latest offering features Stone Island, Mike Harris, The Flat Head, Saint James and Eddie Bauer by Nigel Cabourn.
IM also talk to Yasiin ‘Mos Def’ Bey, take a look at some Fall-Winter pieces from Nepenthes and a selection of Paul Harnden classics.
Fantastic Man 14
The 14th installment of FANTASTIC MAN features the phenomenal fashion designer Mr. RAF SIMONS on the cover. Photographed at his home in Antwerp, RAF is seen wearing select pieces by RAF SIMONS and JIL SANDER – both brands he designs for. Three equally compelling gentlemen constitute the other main profiles: the fabulous magician Mr. DAVID COPPERFIELD, the interior-decorator extraordinaire Mr. RICKY CLIFTON and the hailed London-based chef Mr. YOTAM OTTOLENGHI. Furthermore, FANTASTIC MAN explores new grounds in CHINA through a 37-page fashion reportage inspired by the stylistic characteristics of the gentlemen of Beijing. The home object of the season is the curious PAPERWEIGHT, a truly beautiful but truly useless object. The brothers COVIZZI, familiar faces to the fashion circuit, are seen in an Italian suiting exposé during the recent menswear presentations in Milan. The remainder of the issue is full of many other diversions, style investigations, tips and tricks for the upcoming Autumn and Winter seasons, including a delightful new format in which we have conducted conversations with a number of commendable men, aptly titled THE CONVERSATIONS.
Henrik Vibskov NYC
Danish designer Henrik Vibskov has opened his door to this third flaship, but first in the United States, in New York City. Known for his intriguing and gutsy designs, the store layout is an extension of Vibskov’s aesthetics, and was built entirely by him and his team. Most of the store’s design is made from reconstructed Danish furniture, and industrial material shipped from Denmark. The store will carry Henrik Vibskov’s men’s and women’s collections, as well as small selections from brands such as Cosmic Wonder, Peter Jensen, Anntian, Stine Goya, and Ally Capellino.

Fantastic Man 13
This 13th issue of FANTASTIC MAN features the football player DAVID BECKHAM on the cover and inside the magazine. Perhaps the most famous gentleman in the world, Mr. BECKHAM is freshly coiffed care of ALAIN PICHON, and photographed at a pie and mash shop in his native London by ALASDAIR McLELLAN. Other notable profiles include: the new director of the TATE MODERN, CHRIS DERCON, who discusses the fantastic prospects for the museum’s upcoming HERZOG & DE MEURON extension; owner of THE INDEPENDENT newspaper, the media oligarch Mr. EVGENY LEBEDEV; and MICHAEL STIPE who takes time to speak about his projects outside of the encompassing R.E.M.
Inventory #2
The second issue of Inventory magazine includes features and stories from around the world. After traveling to Japan, Europe and through North America, the team had the chance to meet and spend time with some of their favorite brands and people. Among other things, the latest offering features Margaret Howell, Beams, New Balance, Unis, White Mountaineering, Wm. J. Mills & Co. and The Real McCoy’s.
Raf Simons AW10
We’re liking the look of the new Raf by Raf Simons AW10 collection, in particular his re-workings of the classic leather biker jacket with contrast sleeves and mixing of fabrics. Pictured are our pick of the bunch.
Burberry AW10 in 3D
Fashionistas in Tokyo, Dubai, New York, L.A., and Paris gathered on Tuesday to witness a fashion (and techology) world first: Burberry streamed its AW 2010 women’s runway show live in 3D, becoming the first major fashion house to do so. In addition, they live-streamed the show on live.burberry.com, as well as some 70 other sites, including Sky News, CNN and The Times.
Alfred Dunhill Installation
With their first mark on the city, Alfred Dunhill held an installation recreating his London mansion, Bourdin House, in the Meatpacking District of New York City. Open for 7 days starting on February 11th, this coincided neatly with fashion week, and was a one-off chance to see designer Kim Jones a/w collection.
Opening Ceremony at Ace Hotel

Upping the cool factor of the already hip Ace Hotel, Opening Ceremony opened their second New York outpost on Valentine’s Day. The space will include a special collection of traveled minded-essentials, as well as seasonal offerings from designers such as Band of Outsiders, Proenza Schouler, Philip Lim and Alexander Wang. Along with the Project No. 8’s anti-souvenir shop, and hot-spot restaurant The Breslin, Opening Ceremony joins the Ace posse like the cherry on top.
Hixsept – Drift

With backgrounds as graffiti artists, founders and designers Hëx and Hept meld grafic design, art and clothing in their Hixsept collections. Their newest collection entitled ‘Drift’ gets our top marks for its parkas, chinos and button downs in muted tones, as well as the photography by New York based photographer Jeremy Liebman.
Stephen J. Shanabrook for Comme des Garcons SHIRT

Comme des Garcons SHIRT are famed for their quiky ad campaigns, and this season is no exception. They have collaborated with artist Stephen J. Shanabrook, using images from his series ‘Paper Surgeries’. Playing on magazines, fashion and photography, the images (made in collaboration with Veronika Georgieva) blur the lines between beauty and ugliness. His artworks are also due to appear on the actual shirts from the collection.
C’H'C’M

We’re big fans of Brooklyn-based etailer C.H.C.M, stockist of some of our favourite menswear brands (Drakes, Mackintosh, John Smedley, Gloverall…). For those who missed their 4 day pop-up at 34 East 1st St, head to www.chcmshop.com to check out their selection…we think you’ll agree.
Inventory Magazine

Inventory Magazine is the new project from Ryan Willms, founder of the discontinued and highly rated h(y)r collective online magazine. Inventory will also exist as on online magazine, but a hard copy will be available too. With a strong influence from Japan, their first issue takes a look at the people behind Yuketen, Nigel Cabourn and Engineered Garments which thrive overseas and are now becoming just as popular in the western world. Editorial features include a look at our favourite parkas for winter and Nom de Guerre’s fall collection.
Snob collection SS10

Check out the new season’s offerings by Comme des Garcons Junya Watanabe MAN, inspired by the classic English gentleman. The line features plenty of plaids and hunting caps as well as collaborations with Levi’s and The North Face amongst others.

A.P.C Dover Street

Another new addition to the fashionable throes of London’s Dover Street, A.P.C has at last returned to English shores with a flagship store at 35a. The space, although small, is suitably simple but well-designed, just like the clothing aesthetic for which it is known and loved. Francophile clothing fans won’t be disappointed, especially with Breton stripes being at the forefront again this season.
Opening Ceremony – Tokyo

Finally, the end of August saw the hotly anticipated opening of NYC retailer Opening Ceremony in the heart of Tokyo’s Shibuya shopping district. They will feature the same quirky inventory from the likes of Alexander Wang, Boy by Band of Outsiders, D.A.P. Books, Other Music, Trash & Vaudeville, and The Row in a huge 50,000 square feet mega shop spanning over 8 floors - their largest to date.
