032c – Industrial Light Magic
Berlin based art and culture magazine 032c has just launched their new issue (their 18th to date) to coincide with their first New York exhibition. The issue is dedicated to Thomas Demand and includes a portfolio and theoretical discussion of the artist’s work, amongst their usual mix of unpredictable features and ironic approach to fashion. StudioThompson and B Store
StudioThomson is celebrating its fifth birthday with a pop-up exhibition at London’s oh-so-cool B Store on Savile Row. For those not in the know, StudioThomson is a design and art direction agency that has worked across all media from fashion, to music, to art and interiors. The exhibition showcases a selection of their work for key clients including Pringle, Aquascutum and Preen. You can also pick up one of their notebooks displayed in the windows as a memento, which retail for only ten pounds and come come in 40 different shades.
31 Rue Cambon
We’re excited to learn of the first issue of the new Chanel magazine art directed and designed by Purple’s Olivier Zahm. Named 31 Rue Cambon after the first ever Chanel boutique, it will be distributed worldwide in all of their stores soon.
UNIQLO x COLETTE
To tie-in with their highly anticipated first Paris store launch, UNIQLO comes to colette for a shop-in-shop this September with a sneak peak of their wares. The Japanese retailer will offer classics like UT tees, denim and of course cashmere. Act fast to get one of the limited edition knits embroidered with the message “From Tokyo to Colette”.

A.P.C Dover Street
Another new addition to the fashionable throes of London’s Dover Street, A.P.C has at last returned to English shores with a flagship store at 35a. The space, although small, is suitably simple but well-designed, just like the clothing aesthetic for which it is known and loved. Francophile clothing fans won’t be disappointed, especially with Breton stripes being at the forefront again this season.
Opening Ceremony – Tokyo
Finally, the end of August saw the hotly anticipated opening of NYC retailer Opening Ceremony in the heart of Tokyo’s Shibuya shopping district. They will feature the same quirky inventory from the likes of Alexander Wang, Boy by Band of Outsiders, D.A.P. Books, Other Music, Trash & Vaudeville, and The Row in a huge 50,000 square feet mega shop spanning over 8 floors – their largest to date.

London’s trendy Newburgh Quarter near Carnaby Street pops up on the Lower East Side, featuring 30 of cool Britannia’s best independent boutiques with wares otherwise unavailable this side of the pond. There’s cult homegrown labels, like Twenty8Twelve, Cowshed and Beyond the Valley residing from 20th August to 13th September at 186 Orchard Street, NYC. Dear: Rivington +
Check out a little slice of Toyko in LES’s Rivington Street. Founded by Moon Rhee, Dear was originally located in a smaller space on Clinton Street in the Lower East Side. Now in its larger incarnation, the boutique continues to sell its own line as well as mint condition vintage pieces from Japanese labels such as Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto. A second floor houses affordable antique home furnishings.

Simon Foxton ‘About a Boy’
Men’s fashion is celebrated in stylist Simon Foxton’s outrageous and memorable shoots, created in partnership with long-time collaborators Nick Knight, Jason Evans and others. ‘About a Boy’ is on at The Photographer’s gallery until the 4th October – one of the gallery’s first major exhibitions to be held at its new venue.

Avedon Fashion 1944-2000
NYC’s International Center for Photography is gearing up for an exciting exhibition as part of its Year of Fashion, with a retrospective of legendary photographer Richard Avedon. Avedon, who died in 2004, revolutionized fashion photography starting in the post-World War II era and redefined the role of the fashion photographer. His spirited, imaginative photographs featuring iconic models such as Jean Shrimpton, Lauren Hutton, Twiggy, Penelope Tree, and Veruschka showed fashion and the modern woman in a new light, and continue to influence photographers around the world. Entitled “Avedon Fashion 1944-2000,” the show, which opened on May 15th, will feature art works spanning Avedon’s lengthy career at Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, The New Yorker and beyond.

Adam Kimmel debuts at Browns Men
Adam Kimmel makes his debut at Browns Men for AW09. The American designer began his career studying architecture at New York University, but in 2003 met a former president of Calvin Klein and began the craft and business of fashion. Kimmel creates luxuriously unstructured pieces from uncommon fabrics, using unique proportions, whilst always maintaining a masculine silhouette.

Their minimal back to basics approach, but use of premium materials and construction techniques, have seen them become monotone classics. Topman white t-shirt project
On 28th May 2009 Topman will launch the fourth in a series of projects which invites a handful of designers to create their ideal version of a staple wardrobe piece.
This season sees the humble t-shirt reworked by designers Richard Chai, Phillip Lim, Christopher Shannon, Juun J, JW Anderson and Henry Holland alongside Topman Design.
AnOther Fashion Book
AnOther Fashion Book, a greatest hits compilation of the fashion photography that has been featured in AnOther Magazine and AnOther Man over the past eight years is out now. The first in a series of collectable books brings together in one volume extensive work by the most iconic names in fashion and art photography including Craig McDean, Nick Knight, Mario Sorrenti, Sam Taylor-Wood, Horst Diekgerdes, Stephen Shore, David Sims, Terry Richardson, Willy Vanderperre and Glen Luchford.
Martin Margiela to launch homewear
Martin Margiela has decided to broaden his horizons and bring his unique style to the decor world. The designer presented prototypes from his first collection at Italy´s Salone del Mobile. The collection features everything from wallpapers, bookcases and rugs to tables and small pieces that emulate the style of his stores, with various white colour palettes. The project is still a work-in-progress and will likely range from the design of objects and furniture in a self-produced collection or in the development of one-off partnerships, according to Pungetti. The company will also do commissions for individuals or public interior design and architecture.
